My grandfather always told me that it was a good idea to have a lawyer as a friend, because you never know what can or could happen to you. I used to think that this didn’t make much sense and that people like plumbers or gas fitters were far better to have on you speed dial than a lawyer. Having watched a video from the brilliant lawyer David Serna however, who gave some instances of people who were law-abiding citizens that fell foul of the law, I decided that perhaps my grandfather was right all along.
The reality is that you don’t know what could happen, and here are some examples of when you may need a lawyer.
Car Accident
If someone jumps out in front of your car and you didn’t see them, it may not have been your fault but ultimately you are going to be investigated for what has happened and it will make a great deal of sense for you to have a lawyer who can makes sure that the process has been carried out properly.
Morning After
You may think that you are responsible enough not to drink and drive but very often we can still be over the limit the morning after, even though we may not actually realize that we are. Should this happen then you are most definitely going to need to lawyer up and make sure that you have the best representation that you can.
Divorce
None of us go into a matrimony with the idea of getting divorced, but we cannot avoid the fact that 1 in every 2 marriages will end in divorce. And so no matter how happy you may be right now, there is always the chance that things change in the future, and you decide to separate, should this happen, you will need a lawyer to manage the situation and to help you through that process.
Work Dispute
If you are having problems at work and you are accused of something, or perhaps even you are being bullied or feel that you have been wronged, you will need a legal expert to help you with that. This happens far more frequently than you may realize. Again even if you are happy in your job right now, it only takes one incident for all of that to change, and you never know when that may take place.
Land Dispute
Very often we see law abiding citizens in the need of legal counsel after they have a new neighbor who moves in and starts a dispute with them around the land and the perimeters of their property. This may not be an issue right now with the neighbors you have, but should they move out then you may see a very different situation entirely.
The point of all of this is to say that no matter how well you think you live your life, there are some situations which will call for a lawyer.
