The focus on the environment and going green have been a core feature for many people in 2022. Everyone is more concerned about the environment and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, leading to pushes for the regulation of cars and other vehicles that have motors, specifically those that are reliant on fossil fuels to run. This led to an increase in the popularity relating to electric cars and motorbikes. More people than ever are purchasing these options over their traditional models. Still, are there any real-world advantages to having an electric motorbike or scooter over a traditional fuel guzzler? Read on to find out.
Easier Construction
The first thing to consider is the construction of these vehicles. The new Piaggio electric scooters are easier to put together as they only have a single moving part when they are running.
Even a simple motorbike running on petrol or diesel will take longer to construct as there are more intricate parts of the engine. This leads to higher production costs and more CO2 emitted from the factory where they are produced. So, already with a faster construction and an easier one, an electric scooter is winning.
Less Power To Move
There have been complaints from people relating to the charging costs of electric motorcycles and, indeed, electric cars. But the reality is that these vehicles require less power to move, and a standard electric scooter can offer around 20 miles of travel per day on minimal charging of the battery. So, this is once again saving energy and, more importantly, time.
Reduction in Carbon
Of course, there is a reduction in carbon as well. Although electric motorbikes are not completely free of creating CO2, they produce hardly any, especially when compared to traditional motorbikes that run on fuel or diesel. If you were to travel 100 kilometers on a smaller motorbike, the CO2 emissions would be 8.3 kg, whereas if you were to travel the same distance on an electric motorbike or scooter, it would be closer to 1.2 or 1.5. So, a very real reduction in emissions that are better for the planet!
No Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels do not have a good reputation when it comes to emitting CO2, and of course, a key feature of an electric vehicle of any kind is that there is no reliance on these fuels. With the prices of fossil fuels like diesel and petrol going up, more people are switching to electric scooters simply for price comparison, with the environmental benefits being a bonus.
Long Lasting Batteries
Although an engine on a traditional motorbike will probably last 5 to 10 years, the batteries that come with electric scooters last even longer. If they break down, they are easier to repair, relating to costs and services, so you will also be spending less money.
So there you have it! While they are not perfect, electric scooters offer a real advantage relating to the climate when it comes to CO2 emissions, making them the transport option of choice for any passionate eco-warrior.
