I didn’t want to admit that I needed glasses, although I did know deep down that it was time, but since I admitted it everything has actually been fine, and I wear these frames with pride. For eyeglasses Fort Myers has some amazing optometrists and so I made the appointment and headed down to get sized up. I already knew that this was necessary because all of the signs were there. If you don’t currently wear glasses then these are the signs which you should be on the lookout for, spot these, and it’s time to make that appointment.
Squinting
Occasionally we may squint to see something very small or perhaps if something looks blurry, but if you are squinting all of the time then that is a clear indication that your vision is failing you. When you squint you reduce the light that enters the eye which thus decreases the size of the image so that you can see it, and doing it all of the time means that you need glasses.
Headaches
Not every headache is down to poor vision so it is important that you are aware of whether or not you have other signs on the list too. With this being said if you do suffer from frequent headaches then the best thing that you can do is to get your eyes tested. Both Farsightedness and astigmatism cause near and far away objects to appear blurry, and that results in a great deal of eye strain, and this is what causes the headaches.
Needing Brightness
The need for more lighting in order to see objects could also be a sign that it is time to get some glasses. This is often a telltale sign of what they call presbyopia, which is a long sightedness caused by a loss of elasticity in the eye’s lens. If you are constantly adding more light and turning on more lamps to read or see objects then it may very well be worth going to get your eyes tested.
Sitting Closer
If you have to sit closer to the TV then that is because you are compensating for not being able to clearly make out the images. Contrary to what many say, sitting closer to the TV doesn’t damage your eyes, but it can be a sign that they are already damaged.
Rubbing
Eye strain and eye fatigue will often cause you to feel the urge to rub your eyes, and that could be a consequence of the fact that you need glasses. Frequent rubbing could also mean another issue such as dry eye or seasonal allergies, but it is something that is worth keeping in mind.
If you have just one of these signs then it may not be that you have to call up your eye doctor in a hurry, but if more than one of the signs presents themselves it probably would be a good idea to get those peepers tested.
